Music Therapy and Dementia: A Workshop for Carers
Music provides a unique way to express and explore thoughts, feelings and messages when people are unable to speak themselves or words are simply not enough.
In this special sector support event, Rebecca Davies, Registered Music Therapist with ECH, will present ideas on how to use music to engage with a loved one living with dementia as well as some music-based relaxation techniques that can be useful to manage carer-related stress.
Music therapy is an allied health profession using music to promote health, functioning and wellbeing, covering physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual needs. Music therapy can address the needs of clients & carers covering areas including isolation, grief and bereavement, sleep difficulties, anxiety and depression, social and emotional wellbeing.
