About Us

Our Story

Catalyst Foundation is an inclusive, independent and charitable not-for-profit organisation.

As a leading provider of information for older people, communities and the care sector in South Australia, we empower individuals to make informed decisions about ageing well through trusted information, support and service connections.

Established in 1994 as the Seniors Information Service, we became Catalyst Foundation in 2016 to reflect our expanded services, diverse communities and commitment to creating positive change.

Our Mission

Catalyst Foundation’s mission is to provide inclusive, timely and enabling self-advocacy services and programs to older, vulnerable people and people living with disability, their family, friends, and carers to:

  • Build confidence and capability to manage their daily lives and as far as possible to live independent, socially connected, fulfilled lives.

  • Access their community, achieve better services provision and employment opportunities through supporting and advocating for the person to fully participate in decision making and to work together with other professionals and services to enable and support this participation.

  • Meet individual needs of social connection, health, housing, employment and daily living.

  • Support relief of illness, infirmity, poverty and social disadvantages.

Everyday our vital services are used by the South Australian community, whether they are an individual, group or organisation.

Our Values

Respect for Individual Autonomy

We uphold the rights of every individual to freedom of expression, self-determination, and informed decision-making.

Responsiveness to Community Needs

We remain flexible and adaptive, attuned to emerging needs and vulnerabilities within the community.

Empowerment Through Support

We aim to relieve distress while fostering resilience and self-management, enabling individuals to take control of their own lives.

Championing Peer support and Volunteering

We value the vital role of volunteers and promote peer-based support wherever possible, building sustainable capacity and shared confidence.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

We seek regular feedback to inform individual and organisation wide service reviews and improvement.

Our Role

With a focus on wellness and reablement, we aim to build individual capacity, empowering people to address their own challenges and needs. As an independent organisation, we help make complex service systems more accessible, promoting self-advocacy and supporting people to develop the skills and confidence to navigate these systems. We are often the first point of contact for individuals who don’t know where to begin, providing guidance and support to vulnerable groups as they navigate multiple government and community services. We understand that vulnerability is not static—people may move in and out of vulnerable circumstances throughout life—and we tailor our support accordingly. In addition to individual assistance, we advocate at a systemic level to improve service access and outcomes for the broader community.
