Understanding and Awareness

Course Overview

LGBTIQA+ Understanding and Awareness is a foundational development workshop designed to build confidence, knowledge and practical awareness when working with LGBTIQA+ communities.

Participants are guided through topics including biological sex, sexuality, gender, gender diversity, and inclusive language. They will also explore historical and systemic discrimination experienced by LGBTIQA+ communities, and the effect invisibility, stigma and discrimination may have on people accessing services.

This practical workshop offers a respectful and engaging learning environment, which is supportive of questions, understanding, and reflection. It connects knowledge with real-world service delivery, promotes change, and strengthens inclusion and trust for the LGBTIQA+ community.
