In 2020, in response to social isolation caused by COVID-19 amongst the community, we launched Wellness Gallery, an online photography project aimed at motivating individuals and promoting positivity.

This year, Wellness Gallery aims to engage South Australians of all ages to reflect on the concept of ageing in media and to contribute to a future society that has moved beyond ageism. Help us build an inclusive, age-positive image gallery online by joining our Photo Competition and showing us what “Ageing Well” means to you and your community.

Wellness Gallery is a free, online photo competition open to all residents of South Australia. The received submissions are reviewed by our judges who select their 30 favourite pictures and then voting opens for the public to select the top 3 winners, who will receive prizes up to $300.

The aim of “Ageing Well” Wellness Gallery project is to create a free-to-access resource of authentic and inclusive stock images depicting wellness and positive ageing in Australia. The image gallery will be free to download and to use by all individuals and organisations. Currently, many of the stock images used in media depict aged individuals (50+ years old) in a negative or stereotypical way, that does not accurately capture the diversity and reality of most ageing Australians.

The theme for this competition is “Ageing Well”. Ageing Well may involve being part of the community, sharing moments with family and friends, being active, enjoying life and hobbies and much more! What does Ageing Well mean to you?

Submissions close 31 January 2022.
Winners announced by 31 March 2022.
